Before we initiated our builder search, my heart was set on having a well-known contractor based in Saratoga Springs, NY to oversee the major renovation of our family lake house. Our house in Underhill Vermont was built by Roundtree Construction in 1991. Several contractors bid on the job. We chose Round Tree because of their reputation and because theirs happened to be the lowest bid. We feel very fortunate to have made that choice. We could not be more pleased with the result. The cost of the project was precisely determined and guaranteed by contract. When the building was completed, the contract had been honored to the letter, and work was completed as scheduled. There were no surprises or disappointments.
The quality of the work performed by the Roundtree crew was superb in every regard. Ric is a gentle perfectionist. The joinery of doors, window frames, decorative molding and so on, is perfect and has remained so after twenty years of changing weather and gravitational settling. Visitors to our house, including a number of builders, have uniformly expressed admiration for the quality of the work.

Our relationship with Roundtree did not end when the construction was complete. Dan Morris and Ric Santamaria have remained available to consult with us over the years whenever home or work construction questions have come up. In 2009-2010, Ric oversaw a difficult roof-replacement for Debra’s office, a commercial building in downtown Burlington. This included priceless consultation with building owners and project oversight.

It’s always a delight. When I work with them, they will absorb the objective, and execute it. With some contractors, the same mistakes get made again, and again. That’s not the case with Roundtree. Things such as attention to detail and quality of finishes always show up in the final product.
They also have very tight financial control. All of their clients tell me they’re happy with both the product they get, and the price they paid.
